Meant for families of all sizes, orientations and backgrounds – from parents with kids to senior citizens with adult children – in this family-focused class, we will apply the principles of this practice to explore how to deal with the challenges of everyday family life in a yogic way. Working together we will strive to create a culture of peace in a society inundated with un-peaceful images. Find the joy in working together as a family on projects large and small. We will explore everyday living topics (such as food choices) in relationship to family interactions; practice listening and interacting from the heart with conscious attention and cultivate a sense of peacefulness, clarity and joy with your whole family. Come prepared to experience everything from moving together to discussion, team building and games. Children must be school age (i.e. potty trained) and accompanied by an adult. $15 family drop in rate (or one punch per family if you have a series card). deepen your practice with sutra study sessions with hilaire Deepen your practice with an understanding of its foundation. Join us for our monthly Yoga Sutra Study Session with Hilaire. After a short amount of time practicing at Hilltop, most of us discover there is way more to this practice than asana (postures). The more and more we practice, we realize that what we are doing physically relates mentally and spiritually so well to our time off the mat that pretty soon, life becomes more like our yoga and our yoga becomes more like our life -- we find true union. The Yoga Sutras provides the philosophy behind this practice and is relatable to all of our lives, no matter your background or spiritual beliefs. All are welcome Regular class rates apply. No advance registration necessary and it is not necessary to have attended a prior session. We will have Sutra books for sale at the studio if you'd like to purchase one before or after the study session. All will take place at our Old Town Studio from 2:30-4pm. Sunday, February 26 The fluidity of life paints a canvas full of many different joys and challenges that create the broader picture that is uniquely and magnificently ours. In the moments when life hands us our deepest struggles, our reaction and perspective is ours to choose. Join cancer survivor and 23-year yogini Hilaire Lockwood for this life-changing workshop that will travel the physical, mental and emotional journey of balancing the strength and surrender it takes to accept and overcome struggle. Regardless of any current physical yoga practice you possess, this workshop is for individuals personally dealing with illness, addiction recovery or grief as well as those who are in a support role for a loved one who may be dealing with these types of struggle. From cancer to MS, and everything in between, be empowered by the depth of who you have become by embracing blessings over anguish. Through embracing the present moment, yoga offers us the opportunity to accept without exception. This class will begin with a discussion/lecture that will be lead by Hilaire and will also include brief reflections from members of the Hilltop Yoga community who have direct, personal experience with these types of struggle.
