Meet Our Instructors - Annie |

I began practicing yoga in Chicago more than 8 years ago, but it wasn't until I came to Hilaire's class for the first time that I felt truly connected to what this practice is all about. I grew up doing many forms of dance and also playing sports, and eventually in college began running long distances and teaching aerobics. I can safely say that I found the practice like many people do -- for physical reasons. After one class at Hilltop, I quickly discovered that there's more - way more. Not only was I physically challenged, but I was able to dig deeper to understand how, by linking breath to movement through asana, we are able to get rid of our garbage, heal our wounds and ultimately become more mindful in each moment. One of the greatest lessons that this practice offers is accepting and being grateful for where we are and who we are in each moment, and it is the basis for how I teach. I offer a challenging power yoga class that allows students to acknowledge their limits, empower themselves using inner strength and explore the depth of their spirit.
I have completed Hilaire's basic and advanced teacher trainings and am registered with Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level. I am deeply blessed, honored and grateful to be trained by such an amazing yogi, to be able to teach alongside teachers who are not only amazing on the mat, but off the mat as well, and lastly, to have such open and sweet students -- all wrapped inside a sangha (community) that is unlike any other.
I look forward to welcoming you soon!
