My name is Alice Birney and I am a traveler, caretaker, yoga practitioner and teacher. I have been practicing yoga regularly since 2005. I enjoy traveling and I find myself volunteering and teaching wherever I go. Yoga has been a wonderful grounding force in my life at home and throughout my travels. I have found that yoga gives me the strength and patience to continue the work that I do. In 2013 I completed my 200 hour teacher certification from Hilltop yoga studio in Haslett, Michigan.
As a yoga teacher I believe that yoga is accessible to everyone. Breath is the backbone of physical practice and an integral part of every class. Each pose can be varied or modified based on what each student is ready for physically, mentally and spiritually. This allows your practice to grow and change with you. In my personal practice I have found many of these variations at different times and I encourage my students to find the expression of the pose that is right for them in that moment. I also believe that in class students have a calm, safe and free space to try something new, fall, laugh, or cry; whatever is needed for a genuine healing and strengthening experience.
